February 2016 inflation data

Consumer Prices Index inflation in the year to February 2016 remained at 0.3%. The detailed figures are as follows:

March 2016 Budget – an HR synopsis

Summarised below are aspects of the March 2016 Budget of interest/relevance to HR covering, among other things, the taxation of termination payments and the extension of shared parental leave to grandparents. Certain changes, such as the National Minimum Wage increases, had been announced before the Budget.

Financial penalties for non-payment of tribunal awards

April 2016 will see the introduction of financial penalties on employers who fail to pay tribunal or settlement awards.

October 2016 National Minimum Wage increases

Increase in compensation limits from April 2016

The limit on a ‘week’s pay’ and various maximum employment tribunal awards will increase from 6 April 2016 by less than one per cent - 0.8% to be exact.
