Workers employed by a council have successfully argued that the criteria in the council’s long-service award scheme breached the Employment Equality (Age) Regulations 2006. The scheme, which gave payouts to those who had worked for 25 continuous years and were aged over 55, paid out extra benefits over 5 stages to those who met both criteria.
