Well, after all the speculation that the guidance on the Bribery Act 2010 would be substantially revised, it turns out that this is not the case. Confirming the start date for the Act as 1 July this year, the Justice Secretary, Ken Clarke, said that the finalised guidance 'should save organisations of all sizes from the fears sometimes aroused by the compliance industry that millions of pounds must be spent on new systems that, in my opinion, no honest business will require in response to the commencement of this Act’. Compared with the draft version of the guidance issued for consultation in September 2010 the final version of the guidance has retained its generally high level, principles-based and non-prescriptive character.
