A pay difference between two jobs of equal value (male street cleaners and female carers) due to a productivity bonus applied for many years to the street cleaners, but not to the carers, was discriminatory. And as this had a serious adverse impact on the women it was indirect sex discrimination and had to be objectively justified by the employer.
